Mother nature spends years creating a masterpiece... Wind, rain, sun, snow, drought, flood, lightning and virtually any natural encounter you can think of make these boards truly one of a kind.
Each board has intricate details specific to itself including grain pattern, checks, cracks, knots, holes, etc which make each board so unique. These are not machine made by the 1000's in a factory and minor imperfections may be expected with unique, handcrafted works of art working with natural materials.
These boards once ready for finishing go thru a multi-step process starting with a food grade mineral oil bath followed by 5 coats of food grade board conditioner and polishing.
We start out with FAS boards. As we are working with raw materials from nature, there is an expectation that they may bow, cup or develop cracks over time, especially if not maintained properly. Your board should be kept conditioned with a good coating of food grade mineral oil and/or wood conditioner on a monthly basis or more often depending on the amount of usage. We recommend that you do not use your board as a cutting board. Proper care will greatly extend the life of your board.
Boards should not be put in the dishwasher or submerged in water. They are best cleaned with a damp cloth and dried with a soft towel.
